Do I need MAFS?

I have recently seen numerous intake pipes and stuff made for eclipse turbos that dont have the MAFS hook up on them, is it possible to run the car w.o this or do i have to cheat the system some hows?

You do and you don't, yes the car does need this important piece of equipment to run, but if you unhook it or if it goes bad the car will go into limp mode and just run off of the factory maps for timing and fuel. If the intake pipe is made for the turbo or even an n/t it should have a hook up on it for the MAS or they are made for a VPC which eliminates the MAS altogether.

So if i cant use the mafs, how can i fix the problem of it going limp on me.
