:laugh: good times, I swear I can't get this alternator of for some reason. I've disconnected all the wires and taken 2 bolts out: the one on the top and the one on the bottom with the nut and washers. The only thing I can figure out is there might be a bushing that runs through the bottom one. Any ideas?
 
There is a bolt that goes through the alternator bracket at the bottom the nut is on the back of the alternator, sounds like you haven't slid that bolt out, then there is the adjustment bolts and your done.
 
Just like everything on a DSM, everything is an extremely tight fit. Once you remove the bolts, you will have to rock the alternator up and down while pulling up on it. The bushing at the base of the alternator fits tight against the mount. You did remove the tightening bolt and the bottom pivot bolt right?

Its going to be just as much fun getting it back on.

P.S. Make sure you tighten the belt correctly. The flimsy belt used on the alternator/waterpump/crank pulley will sqeek like a banshi if you don't tighten it properly.

I finally got it, I just kept playing with it (rocking it back and forth and giving it some hard tugs and it finally poped out. I had no idea it was that hard to get out though. I've replaced these suckers on bigger engines and it's nothing. This just had me worried, I didn't want to start prying on crap and end up breaking something so I asked.
