Timing and bent valve

Not dsm related.
Changing the water pump on 96 dodge grand caravan 3.0 v6. Timing was good but when my dad cranked it he only just turned the key and stopped so it wouldnt start just to check and it make a fast ticking noise like badadadadad. Took it apart and the rear camshaft jumped like 5 teeth. It always ticked before but now it ticks worse. Do you think the valves are bent? It runs now we fixed the timing but it just ticks alot louder. Is it safe to drive or not?

Not sure, but if it got louder than something got more damaged which means if you wait it might get more expensive to fix....

I think one of the lifters were already bad before we took it apart, and that is what the noise is.

Since you're already apparently running it, hook up a vacuum gauge and see what it tells you at idle.

Will the haynes manual tell you what vacuum range it is supposed to be in?
