Need help making my 14b actuator arm adjustable!

Has anybody here done this? I have been searching for awhile now, but I can not find anything. I know that a few companys make different ones for different turbos, but I am not interested in purchasing one. Mine works fine the way it is, just the rod isn't long enough after I put on my new exhaust turbine housing.

What I thought of doing is cutting the rod and threading the ends with a die. Then, use some sort of adjustable rod between the two. Can I find anything like this at ACE Hardware or some other hardware store? What would a part like this be called? Thanks for the help!!!

let me know what ya find, i'm gonna attemp to moddify the the one from the t25 if it's at all possible, .
