Car surges

Anytime when the car is idling around 1000 rpm it will start to surge now and then. And when it surges my A/F reads lean. I can't really under whats going on. I have new wires, plugs, and fuel filter. I also notice my check engine light comes on at random while I drive or if I'm idling and goes off. I don't know if these to pronblems are related but if anyone can help me please do. I drive a 91 FWD Turbo Talon.

I had the same problem for a long time. There's a good check list at vfaq.com, click miscellaneous (up top), and near the bottom is the idle surge FAQ. This was a very big help for me.

also check www.dsm.org , helped me find the fix for mine.
