Nasty noise after putting engine back together

well, i spun a rod bearing, so i replaced all bearings, 1 rod, and the crank.

we get the engine all back together, and start her up

TICK TICK.. ran it for like 2 mins, tick did not go away.
very loud tick.

pulled valve cover.. at least 2 lifters i can move by pressing on them with a screwdriver.

collapsed lifters?

mods:
fully built engine wiseco/eagle combo
3G Lifters, Crower Springs/ Titanium Retainers, nitrated valves
cometic HG
evo III 16G
etc....

EDIT: 3K on Rebiuld.. then it spun a bearing, thus tearing it apart again

do i just run it til the tick goes away, or is there anything else i can check.

its a very disturbing sound

After the head is back on and torqued but before you put the timing belt back on you can prime the oil pump and lube system with a variable speed drill and socket. (12? 13?mm)

For the first second or so nothing will happen but the moment you start to see oil coming out the lash adjusters stop and procede very slowly with the drill spinning the bolt on the balance shaft. If you do not, then expect oil 6 feet in front of your car and the windshield and hood will be covered. What you are looking for is oil coming from _all_ the holes in the lash adjusters and cam followers. If some don't squirt oil then you will have to pull them apart and clean the lash adjusters. Once any bad ones are removed again use the drill to make sure the drilled passage in not plugged in the head by running the drill long enough to flush out the bored holes while the lash adjusters are out. If the cam followers are out expect the adjusters to launch right out of the head.

Hope I didn't make that too complicated for it's not, a battery drill will work fine but it must have a variable speed. You can actually do this with a speed handle but it's hard to do and watch for oil by yourself.

we put the timing belt on way before we put the engine in, so i didnt spin the oil pump until it was time to start the car.

i cranked it for 45 or so seconds without plugs before we started it up
is there anything i should do, or will the tick go away after a little while.
engine runs great except for the tick..

like i said, engine has 3k on it

help!
