1g engine into 2g

hey guys i have a MAJOR problem... i put a 1g block into a 2g with the 2g tranny but when i went to start it up for the first time the starter just turns and wont touch the flywheel. i took the starter back out and took it up to the parts store for them to chekc it and they said it was fine( not so sure tho) i checked all the wires and they are fine. does anyone know if they changed the diameter of the flywheels or anythign with the location of the starter? plz write back asap. thanks for your time

im pretty sure the trannys are all different (like a 7bolt 1g is different from a 7bolt 2g) that could be a reason, maybe try a starter off the year car the tranny came out of? not too sure but i think that could be why
