Exhaust Manifold !!RED!!!

Need help!!!!!!!!
I ran my newly put back together 98 GST and I popped my hood after I had ran it for about 5 mins, and the exhaust manifold was fire red. It was that hot!!! Don't know why and I need help so bad. I am having more probs with this car than I want to have.


Help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dont worry about it, you are fine. Thats just what the turbo's do man.

Huh? Mine NEVER does this, even running 16psi for extended periods.

Well you cant see it unless you take the heat sheilds off.....

And it doesnt do it all the time, only after I run it hard and then come back and look right away. But from what I've heard its normal.

I have a heat shield (only on the manifold) on it now, but didn't up until about a month ago. It never glowed red, even after running DAMN hard through the mountains and even when my car was overheating it still wasn't glowing....

sounds to me like someone's running a little lean and getting their EGTs a bit too high.
