hey bros:

a couple days ago, i burned the Spark Plug Wire(NGK). and then the engine started running like motorcycle, i mean sounds like there are only 2 cylinders are working. i just bought a new set of wires and today, i put the new ones on, also the same time i installed new UICP. but when i started the engine, it still has the same problem...plz anyone, give me a hand. thank u alll sooooooo much.

When one coil pack is not sending spark, two cylinders don't fire, and the engine runs like my old lawn mower!! Another symptom is that the tach read 1/2 of the real rpms, so revving the engine full will only show on the tach as about 4000 rpm. You may or may not get the CEL to light. Usually this problem comes from one of two places... a toasted coil pack or a 1/2 bad power transistor unit.
Stop reading this if you don't have the coil pack "electronic distributor"!!!
Somehow you have to check which cylinders are getting spark, and which aren't. There are several ways to do this. One way is to use one of the old plug wires and stick an old plug in to one end, rest the metal of the plug on a metal part of the engine, then connect the other end of the wire to each distributor hole [with the other three plugs connected, so that the engine will run]. If you see a spark in the old plug, then that coil pack works. If the engine will not even run that way, then you've chosen the 'good pack' to test leaving the bad pack to run the car [which it won't, of course]. Assuming that you determine that one coil pack is not generating a spark, the next thing to determine is if the pack is bad OR if the power transistor unit is at fault.
First things first........ Do the "is there a spark" test and then write back!!
Also, just for fun read the following post:

-Looking at the coil pack from the fender: 4-1-2-3.

Just a note.... since each coil pack fires two cylinders together, you can screw up the plug wire order and still have the engine working properly. The official order is {4-1}-{2-3}, but if you have {1-4}-{2-3} or {4-1}-{3-2} or {1-4}-{3-2}, the sparks will still fly in the correct order!! [I used {} to indicate each coil pack.] Crazy, huh??
Why do you ask about the order? Do you think that you might have the wires all mixed up?
