Ok I know I'm not scraping or anything, but whenever I shift hard and have to force the tranny into gear my friend said a shower of sparks will fall from underneath my car. What could this be? I know my clutch needs adjusting because you have to push it all the way to the floor and then its still not fully disengaged. Note: I haven had no fluid leaks at all before and now during this problem. My transmission is supposedly new according to the guy that I bought the car from 2 weeks ago and also my clutch has about 1,000 miles on it. It is a centerforce dual friction with the sprung hub. Please give me some ideas. SHould I drive it? It doesn't spark or do anything weird if I'm easy on it, but when I give it wot and right when I throw it into gear it sparks and the shift is hard and sometimes grinds. Thanks!

Also , about the same time when all of this started happening was right after I had my turbo back exhaust installed and it does rub against the heat shield when the body flexes and makes all kind of noise, but I didn't think that could cause that many sparks plus my shifting has got harder.

Two weeks into it, hm?

Yet another lumbers off to the DSM graveyard.

Make sure your bell housing bolts aren't loose.

Body flexing? Not on a DSM. Check your engine mounts, and find out what they effed up on the exhaust install. Do you have a flex pipe in there?

Yes I do have a flex pipe in and the clutch engages fully about .5" from the floor, if that so I don't think it disengaging all the way. It has got worse since the exhaust install, but I'm guessing that's just a coincidence and has nothing to do with the exhaust install. My pedal pressure varies. Even now though if I push it all the way to the floor and I mean all the way into the carpet it will shift smooth, but it's on and off. Like I mentioned earlier whenever I give it gas and shift and miss a gear or grind a little I get sparks from the under side of the car. Also reverse is the worse gear of all. It always grinds going into reverse or it will make a big clunk and the engine jumps when it goes in, then if I don't have the rpms over 2500 when I let off the clutch the car bucks like a horse and makes all kinds of weird bad noises. The only thing the sparks could be coming from is the transmission right? Although I haven't lost any fluid whatsoever. Maybe the engine is really jumping and something is rubbing like a pulley or something. Motor mounts are very old. I'm not giving up on it this quick. I'm going to find out what it is.

Defiant:
Thanks! You were right. Had a local dsm guy look at it and guess what, three bell housing bolts were not tightened at all!! It fixed everything in the drivetrain from what he says. I can't wait to get it back. Now I can spend the money that I was going to spend on a tranny on more go fast mods. Thanks again!
