I HAVE A 1990 EAGLE TALON TSI AWD TURBO . DROVE HOME OTHER NIGHT EVERYTHING WAS FINE , HOWEVER NEXT MORNING WOULD NOT START . I HAVE CHECKED TH FOLLOWING : EGR (OK) . ECU ( NO ODOR,IS CLICKING THOUGH ) BATTERY (OK) , COMPRESSION (145-150 ACROSS ALL 4 ) , VACUUM HOSES (NONE BROKEN ) , I AM GETTING FUEL AND GOOD SPARK FROM PLUGS . EVERYTHING IS STOCK , MOST OF WHICH IS PROBABLY OEM . I ALSO HAVE A NEW FUEL FILTER . CLUTCH HAS ALSO STARTED TO SLIP , COULD THIS CAUSE IT TO NOT START ??

Tap on the starter with a hammer, see if that helps. Sounds like either your relay (not as likely) has gone out or your starter. Pull your starter and a local auto parts store can bench test it. Clean your connections, and try again.

Step 1, PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR CAPS

Then, check your timing belt, and make sure it's properly aligned. My guess is that you've skipped some teeth.

er i need to get mine checked also, but where is the starter on a 2g? I looked at the haynes manual, all it shows is a illustration of the starter itself.

can timing slip , if belt appears to look fine . how does this happen ? more info it has @125k .

that is correct , it will not start . it did start briefly after adding a little fuel into the intake (i think they told me it was the intake) . could this be a crank angle sensor problem ? where might i get one , if it is problem ? thnks for all help .:D

-Crank the motor with the spark plug remove, do you smell fuel after a few crank? if not, check the ECU (behind radio) for leaky capacitors , then fuel filter - clog injectors - fuel pump relay (front of ECU) - fuel pump in tank.

will check that , how do you check the crank angle sensor ? just checked doesnt appear to have anything wrong with ecu , there is no burn marks or odor

There doesn't appear to be a test listed in my service manual. The two occurence I have heard of indicate that this is a critical faliure. This should be very easy for the ECU to flag, but that assumes that the car will run... this is what was listed on your attach . do you or anyone know of a test for the cas ?

Cam timing and ignition timing are two different horses. Cam timing is determined (stock) by how many teeth are between sprockets. On racey-racey cars, the cam gears will be re-worked so that their position on the cams can be adjusted.

check for fuel pressure you may not be gettin enough fuel. does the car try to start at all or does it just crank?

i have good fuel pressure . it does not seem to get enough fuel when cranking though . tries to start but quickly dies .

i have had 166 views and not many responses . i am willing to go with educated guesses at this point .
