My car has been having a little problem the past few weeks, it's getting slower when it hits 3000 rpms. Also when i start the car two lights in the panel light up the brake and battery lights but when I hit 3000rpm they go out and never light up till I start the car again for a next time. Also I have some amps in the car and when I hit 3000rpms the ignition sound starts on the speakers and thats when i know that the car will go hesitating... I had ask some people what could it be, some say the spark plugs some said the wires etc... I have ngk V-power 8 and change the spark wires today I'm to change the spark plugs to bpr6es..
But if the spark plugs won't fix the problem what could it be....no leaks found either...

It sounds like you have an alternator about to go. That will cause all of the symptoms you just mentioned. You might want to check the alternator fuse also. If you have a voltmeter you can test the alternator. It it's putting out less than 14 volts when the engine's cold, then you have bad alternator. It could be you alternator fuse too, though this really sounds like you have a bad alternator. It could also be that your amps are stressing out your charging system. Remember, we have piddly alternators. If you can get your hands on one, then get an alternator for a Canadian model. Those are 75 amps as opposed to our 65 amps.

i think you are right but the alternator belt is starting to make noise. can it be the belt that is getting loose..??? tomorrow i'm going to check the alternator's voltage to check...

Thanks :D

It's possible that it could be the belt. Test your voltage to be sure it's the alternator. If the voltage is low, tighten the belt and test again. If that doesn't work, then you've probably got a bad alternator. They can be had for around $100 with core exchange. Installing an alternator is pretty easy to do yourself. It took me about an hour with a beer handicap though I'm sure it can be done in less. Once you install everything test the battery to make sure it's holding a charge. Sometimes a bad alternator can put a lot of stress on a battery and kill it. That happened to me when I did my alternator.

One thing I goofed on. Your car has a 75 amp alternator already. It's on the 1Gs that you have the difference between the 65 amp for US cars and then a 75 amp for Canadian non-turbos and a 95 amp for Canadian turbos. The only difference in alterators for 2gs is for the Spyder which has a more powerful alternator.

I check the voltage, 11.98 volts at starting idle, it didn't charge till I hit the 3000 rpm's, I'm going to change the core next week. But another thing that i notice was that the baterry check light didn't light up at the ignition, it just light up sometimes with the brake light simultaneusly. Is that part of the same problem of the alternator or the sensor is damage too ???

will alternators going bad cause lack of major power? When my car first starts its like 13.5-13.9 volts, but about 10 minutes of being warm at idle its like between 12 and 13. My alternators making hella noise too. Would this cause lack of power though? cause i should be running low 13's high 12's with my setup right now..and trust me..im not.

thanks
