2 part question

ok two questions, one simple and one I have no clue
1. On the stock oil gauge, what is it supposed to read at idle....mine reads below L, almost nothing. If I rev the engine then it goes normal. Is this right.

2. While at idle also I get the constant lifter tick, however, recently it has been accompanied by a on off droning noise.... Is this the water or oil pump or what on gods green earth is it?

It's typical for the factory gauge to show almost no pressure at idle. A new sender may help.

1 grade higher-viscosity oil may eliminate your lifter ticking. It's an old car, clearances are greater.

I don't know about your droning, you may want to hit up a tool shop for an engine stethescope (or eBay for $7) to chase it down.
