1G Black smoke from 1991 TSI

Hope someone can help with this one, I have a 1991 Talon TSI AWD, no mods on it just a k & n filter, when i mash the gas pedal i get a small amount of black smoke out of the exhaust and the idle is very rough, feels like a v-8 rumbling. changed the pcv just for the heck of it,of course it did not help.

it is a 1991, 156,932 on the original motor.

Sounds like it's running rich. When's the last time you changed the plugs and wires? Also you might need to clean the filter and reoil it.

Sounds to me like one or more of your plugs isnt firing correctly, therefore, unburned fuel is coming out of your exhaust. I agree, check your plugs and wires!

is this when ur at high rpm's? casue when ur high rpm's it could just be carbon build up blowing out but if its at low rpm's check plugs and wires

Check your plugs and wires for misfire. Could be that simple problem. If everything turns out okay there, it could be rings or your turbo is taking a dump (bad seals = smoking).
