ball joint or cv joint?

ok im getting a clicking noise in my drivers side lower suspension when coming to a stop. its not too loud but definetly there. i can almost feel it through the steering wheel clicking. and at a stop if i turn the whel back and forth real quick i can almost feel a little play in it and it makes a small knock noise. my thought was a lower ball joint, but i jacked up my car and tried the good old pull out the bottom of my wheel and it didnt budge. so hmmm now im not so sure, it could be a cv joint or maybe something else. any ideas guys?

Check your steering rack bushings. Did you check both ball joints? The ones for the suspension control arm and the ones for the tie rod?

to me it sounds like you may have a couple of problems. I would get under there and sheck your steering rack for leak like the above person mentions, also look at all the boots around the cv joints, ball joints, and the sway bar links. A torn boot usually leads to a faulty part.

keep in mind a lot of times the ball joint test will not work with just you pulling on the tire, and actual pry bar must be used. Usually only the severly owrn ones will show when you pull on the tire.

I had a clicking noise from my wheel bearings once. I think the previous owner had driven through high water or something. Any way, I replaced the front wheel bearings and no clicks.
