shifter movement in all gears

i just noticed a good bit of increased shifter movement left and right, front and back, in all gears.

i am thinking its somewhere in the shift cables or maybe the shift plate and such?

just wondered if anyone had any ideas before i tear apart my entire center console

it doesn't pop out of gear or anything right? it shifts good?

if so, it's most likely the little washers that hold the shift plate down to the car. they are rubber washers and are known to suck ass. they have shifter kits for that. they are like $50. i'm not sure the name of them or were to get them though, sorry.

do you have an aftermarket shifter by anychance? if so there is a bold that holdes shifter to car that came loose my does it all the time untill i put locktite on it , but if you dont have aftermarket shifter prolly just stock shifter came loose just tighten it see if that does the trick my2 cents

well i tore apart my center console yesterday and everything seemed decent

so i checked the shift cables under the hood and found what i think is my problem

the rubber bushing deal is ripped on one of the connectors

so i tried filling it wiht jb weld for a temporary fix and but it didn't really work

so i guess i'll look for a shift kit to replace all those rubber deals..

Thanks for that http info. Ive been worrying about my car ever since reading that the loose nut can blow a hole thru the case of the tranny. I read it here and here:

this happened to me last night.....where the washers go we put wire ties down for a temp fix til i get a new one and its shifting well

yeah that 1g loose bolt issue dosn't reply apply to 2gs
