Well I accidently snapped off the fitting that goes from the block to the banjo bolt from the water return line. Hopefully you guys understand what im talking about.

The banjo bolt threads into this fitting which then threads into the block. Well i snapped off the head of that fitting leaving the rest in the block/threads (not good). So the only thing i can think of is to retap that hole and install a new fitting.

I picked up the fitting from mitsu but i dont know what the thread size is which means i dont know what tap size to buy. Does anyone know? it looks to be a 17mm, but i cant even find a 17mm tap, only 16mm and 18mm taps. And forget about going to your average hardware store to find these taps no one has them! I have to locate them online from a specialty store online. :(

If anyone has any suggestions/ideas or knows the size thread on that fitting let me know asap! Also i have some pics of the fitting but i dont know how to post them online

Can't you get an ez-out into it and back out the broken part?
Try to track down a Snap-On or Matco truck, they'll be able to measure the threads and fix you up with a tap, if you need it. Or, any machine shop can read the threads for you.

Anyone else have this happen. Im not sure what to do. I was threading the block off bolt since i have a 6 bolt head on the 7 bolt block and do not need that return line. However, when i was threading it in, it snapped the part thats already threaded into the block. I didnt know that part had to come out in order to install the block off bolt. So now, i have a piece of threaded bolt thats HOLLOW in the block and no clue how to get it out.

ANY HELP PLEASE!

If i were to thread it, i would be threading it into the block, and i dont want to do that. I want to get it out. I cant measure the thread pitch becuase there is no section of thread is showing.

So, i took my friends screw removed thats backwards threaded, and try to removed it that way, but i ended up breaking the bit right off at the block. ####! Well, heres the good thing, i think i will be able to jb weld it now since its sheared right at the block. I'll take so pictures when i get some time, but i think it may work. If not, well, then im back at square one and have to rip the block out anyway. Oh well.

just so people can see what he was talking about. im currently in this mess myself, ive tried extractor bits and heat but i cant get this thing out of there . it sucks

You need more heat. There is a thread sealer that is used on those that will loosen up with heat.

Heat the shit out of it, if that doesnt work then you are in rough shape. If you can find a way to stop it up, do so. Your evoIII does not need coolant lines to function properly, just make sure to let it idle for about a minute after you've been driving for a good amount of time. This is the easiest and best way to do this. You aren't going to want to drill it out and tap a different thread in there, because you dont want those shavings in your coolant. I say jbweld it and pull your banjos from the chra to let the turbo breathe. Its just such a pain in the ass spot, unfortunate luck there. This is just the hacker solution, a real solution is to pull the block and tap. What a pain in the ass.

First off, a few metal shavings in the cooling system won't hurt anything. The block can be flushed out pretty easy also. Second, recommending jb weld on that is an awful recommendation. That will never hold.

I bolded it so you'd actually read it this time champ. Better luck with the whole reading thing next time. :thumb: It's all good though, I hear for some people its a stout learning curve. I always worry about getting any sort of shit in any of my fluids. I guess not a big deal though, thanks for clearing that up.
