air filter silencer

I have a 90 plymouth laser n/t. where is the silencer in the air filter? is it that black plastic piece?

The silencer is the silver piece on the end that goes towards the intake hose.

Isn't there an air silencer on a 1G intake and if so how can I remove it. If it's not a good idea let me know it's for a N/T

You can hack off the plastic intake and put a filter on. But of this silencer I believe must be one of a kind.

Just take the MAF off the intake hose/pipe and look at the back of the MAF you should see this shiny thing with fins.. just cut out the center and pull all that shit out, then get a pair of needel nose pliers and get the outer metel off.. you will have to bend the edge so it pulls the little pen like pices out of there holes so you can pull the outer shit off... it's not that hard tuck me like 5min total..

That round thing with the cloth on the inside is a crushed silencer. Pull it out.

The silencer is a star shaped cloth thing. When it is crushed, it looks like the picture above. Either way, it isn't necessarily doing anything beneficial. Do yourself a favor and just remove it.
