I have been looking for a good engine rebuild kit of my 90 4g63...I want to use 2g pistons. Anyone know a kit that has new t-belt oil pump and all the main parts together/

The only place that I would think has It, is Extreme Psi. And if they don't have a kit , you will find just about anything and everything in there.

I am currently in the process of building my 1990 fwd turbo (just putting tranny on) and I ordered my kit from machv.com(its under engine). It was a topline kit and I have no complaints but i have yet to start my engine . 1g Pistons come with the 1g kit but you might be able to special order 2g pistons with a 1g kit. I would just give them a call.

I just had a topline headgasket go on my car, switched back to the oem gasket with arp head studs. Its supposed to be a good gasket with the arps.

Unless your absolutely sure your block and head are flat, I wouldn't go with the cometic gasket.

I did not use the Topline HG either. At the time I wanted something a little stronger for the HG and ended up with the Mitsu MLS HG. Works very well.

As for the Cometic HG, many people have said not to use a Cometic HG unless the surfaces are absolutly flat. You can get this checked at a local machine shop. Your torque sequence for the head studs can also play a part in how well the HG seals.

The gaskets from parts dinosaur are just fine - I'm using his kit on my build right now. The only gasket I'm not using on the full engine kit is the head gasket - I'm going with his new MLS gasket he has. I've used his gaskets in the past and they've worked great. I'm even using the pistons he has for sale on his website. If you go with a MLS, your mating surfaces have to be perfectly smooth, no imperfections - you can't even have a thousandth of clearance on your mating surfaces and achieve a good seal. If you decide to go with Parts Dinosaur, here's most of the parts you'll need from him, along with a few other things I recommend:

So cometic out...mitsu mls in?? Also what do you think about putting 2g pistons in my 1g??? Also are used pistons bad if they look ok...I also found a oem evo 3 turbo.

If you're confident in your machine work you can use the Cosmetic or Mitsu MLS. Either way, that surface needs to be perfect. If it isn't, you'll know damned fast. I did the 2G/1G pistons on a rebuild several years ago just to see what it's like - it helps your lower end power but personally I'd stick with stock until you're ready for some forged pistons. You can do it if you wish, but you'll be spending money on the pistons and machining your rods to fit them. As a rule of thumb, I always replace pistons. They are so inexpensive on a stock rebuild that it just makes sense to do it:
4G63T Mitsubishi Pistons and Rings Package 1989 - 4/1992 Eclipse, Laser, Talon
For $129 you get fresh pistons and rings - you can't shake a stick at that. I'm almost positive those are chrome rings it comes with - make sure your machinist hones the cylinders accordingly.

If the surfaces are checked by a machine shop and they are good, then you can use the Cometic. I just put one on my DD Laser rebuild. I also used the stock pistons; they did not really have much wear and will be fine for what little additional power I throw at it.

The EvoIII 16g is the best of the 16g's and would be a good choice.:thumb: I have a Big 16g on my Laser.
