belt and pully issue

i own a 98 eclipse N/T and i bought a new tensioner pully for the a/c compressor / power steering pump. after i installed the pully and tighten my new belt on the car on startup the belt rides off on the pully right below the tensioner, i already shredded my new belt and its gone off the car now. i have no idea why my belt would ride off up on the side of that pully. any ideas??

are all the pulleys aligned in a straight line with one another, or did you get a pulley backwards where it's off aligned to cause this problem?

I only installed a new tensioner pulley, all the other pulleys do seem to be in alignment though. I'm going to take it to a mechanic today to get his input on what the problem could be. Also it seems at high rpms, the belt will come off, im guessing this is also just due to the belt riding on the side of the pulley.
