I have a 95 talon tsi awd auto and its stock with 91k on it.My transmission shifts perfectly but it wont shift into 4th gear.It stays in 3rd with high rpms.I just purchased the car and drove it home fom New Jersey, roughly about 150 miles.I drove it around town for about a week, I hit a real big bump in the road(i didnt bottom out) and every since then it will shift in every gear but 4th with the high rpms.I just had my mechanic look at my shifter cables and had them adjusted and I am still having problems. The fluid level looks like its where its supposed to be but I am sure it needs to be changed.I was told that it might be something wrong internaly. Its no slipping at all just wont shift in 4th gear.Someone please help

Thanks ;)

check the (OD)switch on the shifter, i'd check it at the transmission computer... if there's a problem, then take apart the shifter to access the switch, if the switch checks good, test the wires, if the wires are good, u may be looking at a transmission computer

Its your end clutch. You can fix it without taking out the tranny. All u have to do is remove 2 bolts and put the new one on. You can get a upgraded one for like 75$

check the switch first... your car is 13yrs old and i don't know how recently you've worked on your tranny (if at all) but you don't want to be messing with the end clutch then find out it didn't fix the problem cause it was a loose wire going to the OD switch. start with the cheapest most simplicist fix it could possibly be and then keep crossing your fingers. but, yea, its probably your end clutch.

I think it is unlikely that the problem is the end clutches. Usually when it comes to an end clutch the transmission will shift into whichever gear is bad and then just rev. I would imagine it is tcu/electrical related, maybe a bad solenoid?

well from experience this is what happened to mine and i replaced my end clutches and that fixed it and it was super easy

I have a 92 auto and have never had a problem with my o.d switch. Theres 98K on engine and tranny so one of these days I'm sure something will go out...But yes sir I'm going with theese fellas and saying check the switch. Then the wires from the switch to the compooter. You can either use a test light, or a digital multi meter. Which ever one you have in your garage will work just fine.

Check Your Oil Pann You Might Of Bent It And Maybe Broke A Solenoid If Thats The Case Replace The Solenoid And Check The Plug For The Solenoid Also Bend The Pann Back<<>>>like I Said Only If You See The Pann Bend I Mean Really Bend Like If Someone Hit It With A Hammer

Please don't give out advice if you can't even spell "Pan".
It really hurts your credibility.

I have the same problem. I have an aftermarker shifter and I had to cut the 3 wires going to the switch. None of the wires are showing to be live with a test light. I checked all the fuses and none are blown... I need my 4th gear back. Can anyone please help?
