[RESOLVED] Installed DSMlink now no crank

Hi all, I just installed my DSMlink and FIC 750's and now the car doesn't crank.

I was running a 97 ECU so I took that out and put in my old 95 ECU with DSMlink on it. I took out my 450's and put in FIC 750's in their place. I swapped the plug wires and went to start it up.

I turned the key, heard a "click" but no crank. Has anyone come across this before? Could my ECU be dead? Any thoughts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ok little update. The ECU seems to be making a whining noise and my turbo timer is going crazy. The time is jumping all over the place.

What has me worried is the strange noise coming from the center dash around the ECU area.

Any thoughts anyone?

put in your old ecu and see if it starts up if so then put in the new one and see if that one will start up. If the old one starts but the new one doesnt then your ecu is fubar'd

Make sure the link chip is pressed down firmly into the ecu. Also do what blue said.

I'll give that a shot and post back.

I'll check that when I swap back to my other ECU.

Did you put the chip in backwards?Thats what it sounds like to me.Did you install the clutch-cut wire correctly?

Actually I didn't install the clutch wire at all. I didn't know that was required.

Well you dont have to install it for your car to start and run, but i was thinkin that maybe you tapped into an ignition wire or something, but thats not the case. Did you verify that the chip is installed correctly?I installed a keydiver backwards once, and when i went to start the car all i heard was loud clicking.I learned the hard way

Ok so I put in the old ECU and still no crank. So that means the problem isn't with my DSMlink ECU.

I may have blow a fuse or relay or something. I can hear a light buzzing sound (for about 2 seconds) from the center console area around the ECU. Are there any relay's or fuses back that I should check?

Well I found the problem.

The battery was low. Still had enough juice to power all the electronics but not enough to crank the starter.

I feel silly now....

Anyways, let this be a lesson to you young kids out there.

When in doubt, check the battery. Lol
