I just bought a pretty well built GVR4 (which is now for sale, shoot me a PM, LOL)

And I noticed that it idles a little strange.

It tends to idle high, or die or move around a bit (about 500rpms)

Could this be because of the DSMlink?

Is there anyway to get it to idle normally?


I know jack about these cars and it's making me want to sell my new baby...
 
Can anybody help me out?

I'd like to get this car idling properly before I sell it but I don't even know if what it's doing is abnormal.

Most of the time when it settles down it's at around 1800rpms.

Otherwise it's a little low and wants to die on me.
 
I'm afraid to plug up my dsm link to my laptop out of fear I'll mess something up.

Is the dsm link pretty safe and hard to mess up.

I don't know what I'm doing and I don't want to damage anything.
 
As long as you don't adjust anything you can't mess it up. Plug it in turn it on and do some logging. Maybe an idle/cruise log. A wot log in 3rd gear from 3k to redline.

at idle log things like ISCPos, g/rev, rpm, RAWThrotPos, TPS Volts, Front O2, Idlesw

at wot log things like MAFRaw, Airflow, Timing, Knock, Front O2, rpm, boostest

then post the logs on here or the DSMLink forums and someone will help you out. BTW how much are you asking for the car and do you have pics? PM if you want.
 
First and foremost, be PATIENT. There's no reason to have two more posts within four minutes of starting the thread.

Download the user guide and read it multiple times : DSMLink - Downloads

You are not going to hurt anything by hooking your laptop up to the ecu. You can hurt something if you change some of the settings.

Once you have read the user guide post a log with at least throtpos, tpsvolts, iscposition, fronto2, rpm, and airflowperrev captured.
