My son bought a 95 TSI with the CE light on and trans shifting eratic. We have an autoenginuity laptop scanned and can clear the 0700 code and the trans shifts fine until the CE light comes on again and the trans starts the eratic shift. What is the symptom of the auto trans in limp mode? I see posts of people having just 2nd or 3rd gear and folks say that is not limp mode but then dont say how the trans acts in limp mode. His will shift ok through gears 1-3 but into O/D if hesitatea a long time and downshifting out of O/D there is a big freewheel zone. With the 0700 ECU code set I cannot get a test light to flash TCU codes. Should I be able to get a test light to flash the TCU codes? Should I assume the TCU is bad if I get no codes flasing? Thanks in advance for you time if you choose to respond. Phil

My car (97 eclipse N/T auto) is also experiencing limp mode. The symptoms for my car is that im stuck in second gear. From what i've read up on, the input and output speed sensors need to be replaced to cure the problem.

I have a 92 GS Turbo automatic. My 1st gen is a little different. Mine is truly in "limp" mode. My TCU is bad. The capacitor leaked burned a hole in the board. I need another computer. Yours sound like it is not shifting into OD.
