my brother bought his 91 eclipse gst from one of his "friends" and the idle has been irratic and i have tested the tps and the isc and didn't pay any attention to the actual biss itsself but the kid had taken it out and put a bolt down in there. so i bought a new biss and o ring and have tried to adjust the idle by grounding out the proper things but no matter how much i turn the biss there is no change in idle. any ideas? oh yeah what is fiav and where is it?
 
If you screw the BISS all the way in and the BISS all the way out, that means there is way too much air going into the intake to compensate at the BISS. You need to do a boost leak test to figure out where the air is coming from and repair. Once that is done, check your ISC for correct operation.

yes it is a 91 not an 01 wrong key. i don't recall posting it in this forum but oh well now. the isc has been tested and is functional. the biss is doing nothing i have not did a boost leak test yet. should do one this weekend. the ips idle position sesor has malfunctioned and will need replaced but for now i have just removed the solenoid and adjusted the throttle cables to get the idle down to 800 i know this is the wrong way but its better than idling at 2k. other than a boost leak could it be anything else?
