I know, I should have asked here first because I know someone on here will correctly diagnose my problem.

2G 420A 97' Eclipse RS

Here's my car's symptoms:

1. When sitting idle, car dies.
2. Taking off (possibly 20ft where where I began to drive off) dies.
3. Driving down the road 30-65 mph, dies.
4. When trying to start, always cranks over, sometimes sputters and dies, sometimes instant start.
5. Normally fine for atleast 5 minutes of drive time when cold starting.
6. Computer randomly resets.
7. It did this around 3 months ago for a few weeks, then it ran fine. I could torture it and it run fine. Now it's started again.
8. The last few times I've driven it, it won't completely die but my RPM's will jerk a few hundred up and down randomly and shake and rock the car pretty violently.
9. Symptom 8 occurs more frequently around 3000 and above RPM.

I really hope you guys would have an idea what it is. I've talked to 3 shops now and they are saying it sounds like I have alot of problems all occuring at once. Ive heard fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel lines, intake, computer f'king with the air/fuel ratio, worn timing belt, transmission slipping, oxygen sensor.

One more thing, I have a short ram installed, 2 1/2 in. The CEL has always been on ever since and it's always ran lean.

Any idea's guy? I really need help. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

have you stopped to listen if your fuel pump is working all the time? you said it dies at idle take off the back seat and listen to it working you hear a sort of buzzing if it stops or faints right before the car dies than you have found your prob

I'm going to agree with the shops, this sounds like more than one thing going on. The fuel pump shouldn't have anything to do with the computer resetting so that is probably a worn out capacitor in the computer itself.

I have two questions for you though. Do you have a custom exhaust? Is the EGR valve still equipped and function?
The Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve opens once the engine is warmed up, so assuming it is still installed that would explain why it runs fine while it's cold but dies once it warms up due to the already lean mixture and the exhaust gas choking the engine. I would certainly check that the fuel pump is functioning as it should since that is most likely part of the cause for why it's dying, especially at speed since it probably can't keep up with the extra air from the short ram intake. If you have a custom exhaust then that will lean out the mixture even further.
