air meter, wiring, ecu problem... searched I'm confused

Like the title say's I'm having a problem with this talon we're working on. The car is a 91 and I have a 90 ecu. I did the wire swap and the car still won't run right to save it's life. The timing is dead on, the compression is over 170 per cylinder the car is very lightly mod'd. Not sure what's going on. If I recall correctly you should be able to start a dsm with the air meter unplugged and it should idle, but when you rev it up it should die or rev slowly. Thing is no matter how I wire the ecu the car idles like crap and won't run right. I've wired pins 6 and 14 to there correct spots and it starts, rev's, and idles. I wire it like the vfaq says and it starts, rev's, and idles, I unhook pins 6 and 14 from the ecu and the car starts, rev's, and idles... WTF ???
 
Yes , and the ecu was just rebuilt, (new caps and socketed). The thing that I'm not sure about is that it's a 1990 ecu and it has an e931 chip in it (91-93 federal 5 speed stock eprom chip). Would that make a difference?
 
Another thing I've noticed recently (car had an ebay 16g on it) coolant got into the oil. Now I know there's just a couple ways for this to happen. I'll be doing a leak down test to check for bad rings, bent valves, etc. when I get a chance but I doubt it will reveal an issue (the compression test was very good). Another thing of note, the motor is a Jasper replacement and it has about 20,000 to 30,000 miles on it currently. I can list mods if need be.
 
The E931 bin in your 90 ecu won't cause the problem. That should be fine.

The 2 pin swap shouldn't really make the car run really crappy since it's just for the maf reset and idle switch.

Coolant and oil mixing isn't good. Could be something as simple as a crushed oil cooler at the oil filter. Could be something like a headgasket which could make the car run bad.

How exactly is the car running? Can you describe the problem? Any check engine lights? Do you have access to a logger to check all signals? Have you done any fuel system checks or had the filter replaced recently?
 
The fuel filter was replaced less then 2,000 miles ago. The problem seems to be more that the car loads up at idle. Meaning after it sits for a time (sometimes 30 seconds, other times 2 minutes) the car seems to be running so rich that it bogs itself out. I'll see if I can get a video of what happens. The car seems to be running fine if you beat it though.. Just like a DSM!
 
I was thinking maybe it could be the wiring or the maft. I was contenplating taking the maft out and replacing it with the stock air meter setup. The problem seems to be that the car just doesn't want to idle. One more thing to note. The has a set of yellow top 510-536cc injectors (I've heard variations between 510cc all the way up to 536cc for the yellow tops). The maft is set up for 520cc injectors. Could this be the issue or does anyone thing the wiring is messed up. I bought the car as a shell.
