bent valves??

So my husband was driving my car when it died. Come to find out after taking off the valve cover and the timing cover we broke 8 rockers and the balance shaft belt broke and slipped time. What are the chances that I also have bent valve? I really don't want to pull the head if i don't have to. thanks for any help

Sorry but more than likely your pistons have dents in them and your valves are all bent. Pull the head, and check your pistons... If your rocker arms are as loose or broken as you say they are then more then likely your valves are bent.

I doubt you broke a rocker. More than likely they just popped off which is what happens when pistons meet valves. If the engine is still able to be cranked you can do a compression test to be sure.

ive seen a broken rocker, about 12 of them pulled out of a 91 N/t with a busted belt and bent valves. the rollers were busted off of the rockers

Replace the whole motor.Everything is messed up if those are your issues replace block and head.

WTF Let them take the head off to inspect the damage before telling them they need a whole new engine. 95% of the time a head rebuild is all that is required.

Dime to a doughnut they aren't broken, just knocked off. They'd look broken if you don't know what you're looking at.

agreed valve hit piston rocker popped off.
all it takes is for it to skip one tooth on that belt and your done. as they are interference motors

thats what i belive happened to mine every valve is bent and the pistsons have big indents in them. it sucks.
