Hit a dip in road now car wont shift right

I have a 95 eagle talon tsi awd automatic.



I just bought the car and I hit a very big dip in the road this morning and every since I hit the dip it does not shift right.It goes in drive normally,reverse works fine and it will only shift from 1st-2nd gear.Also you cant pull the gear shifter down to L but it was working before I hit the dip in the road.


I was told that the shifter linkage might be off

if that is the case can someone please tell me where it is and how to fix it

Check the shifter cables. these car dont have linkage's. did you checked under the car to see if you cracked something?

I didnt bottom out or anything it was just a big dip and every since I did that thats how its been acting.Where are the shifter cables?Thanks

Take out you center console and you'll see the cables under there. Ill try looking for some pictures for you.

I didn't realize an auto even had shifter cables. Neat.

Depending on the conditions regarding this "dip" your city might be able to foot the bill. Just something to think about.
