balance shaft eliminator kit and porting oil filter housing.

I was just wondering if it is necessary to port the oil filter housing after eliminating the balance shafts. Is it completely necessary?

It is not necessary, but more than likely you will have excessive oil pressure. The only way to tell is to get an oil pressure gauge in there and see how the engine is doing. to be honest, porting takes 30 minutes and is well worth the effort, especially since you have everything out to do the BSE anyway. MY recommendation would be to do it.

I am still in the rebuild stages right now, but soon i will be done. i do have an oil pressure gauge kit, what amount of oil pressure should I go for? I just have stock cams and springs, and transmission. So I guess i could shift at 8000. right?
