I cant pin point it but i thought that mabye you guys would know of this being a common problem. It hums from the belt area.. it sounds like somewhere under my timing cover. When i give it gas it hums louder. My car is also not pulling hard.. especially in the top end. at about 5 grand you cant even feel the turbo.. anybody? its a 98 Gst by the way.. thanks

have you pulled the timing cover to look at the belt? see if it is rubbing on anything or has any lines in it?

yes.. i have. the timing belt is not rubbing anything. It was repalaced recently.. about 15k ago

Were the pulleys replaced at the time. Mine did that and it was the bearings in the T-belt pulleys. Good luck.

nope never changed the pulleys.. you think??? that would suck ass if they seized up on me... Might as well buy a set of cams and gears now..

Did you replace your balance shaft belt when you did the timing belt ? And yeah it could be your idler pulley or one of the tensioners. My car did the same thing before the timing belt shredded. Turned out the guy that had it before me didn't replace the balance shaft belt when he did the timing belt. Good luck !

Does it make a sound like this?

When I start up my 95 GSX, it has a strange buzzing sound similar to this video I found

Buzzing sound increases with throttle. Not sure if its the timing belt or a problem with the balance shaft bearings or something else. Timing and balance shaft belts have recently been replaced.

its similar.. but i think im gonna give up on my car. I put a evo 3 16g on it and its really not all that fast. i wonder how much boost i can run on it? its kinda ### at 14.

You have a 16g on a stock car?(what your profile says) You should be able to run less than stock boost then...until you get more supporting mods anyways. Get a properly setup 16g car and it will be a very fun street car.
