My alternator is overcharging. I took it to a rebuild place and they said the regulator was bad and replaced it. It is still overcharging. However, when I test it with the alternator connector disconnected (not the positive or negative cable, but that connector with 5 or 6 wires), it does not overcharge.
The relay type thing from this thread seems to be bad (rattles when I shake it), but the thread claims that it's not even necessary.

The connector at the alternator looks to be fine. There seem to be no other relays, just the main fuse, which looks fine. Even if it were bad, then I would just get no charge.
Any ideas on what to check next?
Thanks
