high idle just reinstalled engine

ok guys i'm so happy my car is running.. But it is idleing between 3800 and 5000 i tried driving it a half mile, figured it was due to sitting so long, but it didn't help.... Any ideas i checked all the vacuum lines and they appear on good and feel like tey are on tight.. Any help will be tried and will give a response to.. thanks you all hopefully this 5 month journey into dsms isn't a waste for me. thanks all

Do the obvious and check for boost leaks, after that let us know what you come up with.

ok wile checking for leaks by ear i adjusted the oil fill cap and then started it. It rev'd up high like it was then dropped down to 2k rpm and surged to 2800 rpm and then died. now it won't start... i tried looking for spark after pulling the plug and putting on the valve cover i didn't see any spark. any ideas???

I've talked to several people and all they can think of is throttle is messed up but it returns to the proper position

anyone? i can't do anymore without it running i don't think. I checked te ignition fuse and it is fine... will try to get a coil pack from a friend and try it.

could the reason be a stuck pcv? also where is the idle air control (IAC)

you might wanna see if the throttle cable is to tight...also maybe try to adjust the biss screw. if not it could also be the tps

Resolved thansk msdsm1 it was the throttle cable. i built the vacuum leak check thing from vfaq and found a very very small leak in fac argued with a guy about whether or not there was a leak there. SO thanks for all your help.... now just gotta figure out the smoke from the exhaust hopefully only from motor not having been running for 2 1/2 years and having fresh pistons..
