inner throttle body gasket

does anybody know which way the inner throttle body gasket is supposed to sit(between the throttle body and intake manifold) ? i just purchased a new 1 today...put it in and its still leaking from that area, which means its obviously in the wrong position just wanted to know which way it should sit before i take this thing apart again and do it the wrong way...also im wondering if i should use copper spray just to make a for sure seal.

no spray . Just reference the marks left on the gasket from first attempt . What throttlebody do you have , stock ? Different gaskets for different years . And are you sure it isn't the BISS or the throttle shaft seals ?

The gasket only goes one way. Either upside down or right side up. Only one way works. Rookie is right, you need no spray. Take a bottle of soapy water in a spray bottle and spray it over the throttle body while doing a boost leak test. Then you can see if it's the BISS. If it is the BISS screw leaking it's most likely the o-ring around the screw itself.

Check throttle body shaft seal for leaks also.

There are circles outlined on the gasket that match up to the vacuum ports on the throttle body. When you have those circles of sealant on the gasket lined up with the holes it will become obvious. Then you got it.

i have the 1G tb...the part # that im using for the tb gasket is MD146399

I got ya but what year tb is it.Theres different gaskets for different years.

its a 93...not sure exactly what year intake manifold its going onto but pretty sure its a 91

It doesnt matter what 1g bc there the same intake just the tb year.And yes you can take the studs off .There on there tight but they can come out .Use visegrips and there you go .

so i take it that i have the right gasket just that i needs to be lined up differently? oh and thanks for your help

From what tb you said you have and what gasket yes.As for lining it up .Like someone already said theres only one way it can go on.Maybe you have a leak somewhere else.I would make sure the gasket is ok if you put it on then took it off .And put it back on then, do a boost leak test right at the tb and see if you have a leak somewhere in the tb or intake manifold.Then go from there.

The side that is up in the pic should go towards the tb.Thats like a lil rubber lining . You want that to go to the tb.

so the way it sits right their...just turned around? which the little whole thingy's on top correct?

yes .The green rubber gos torwards the tb .Theres on one way it can go on .

ya it was a 1g gasket. thats the 1 i needed apparently since its not leaking anymore but ya thanks for everyones help. resolved

Just to let you know,theres a big difference in the 90 and 91 up gaskets.
