if main studs are already installed with out align hone ?

I installed my main stud in my block already, and just recentlly read that I need to align hone the main journals. Is it fine to take the studs out and install the bolts, or do the mainstuds pull the caps out of align permantly?

The main studs can be removed and the bolts can be put back in without a problem. If you want to use the stude again though you need to get the main bearing bores align honed.

alright. another ?. I was thinking of throwing them in my bro's motor. he rebuilt his with about 50 miles ago and bent valves and it sat for about a year now. It sounds like a bad Idea to take out slightly used bearings and align hone the journals then throw the gently used bearings in.

If you're going to run the studs, have it honed with the studs in place.
