Okay i have a 95 talon n/t with a 2.0 engine belonged to my mom she just had the engine put in not to long ago seemed to be working fine from what i was told till she let someone borrow the car it wouldnt hold a charge. so i went by jumped it and it started right up drove it around for awhile. tuned the car off and then back on and it had just enough juice to start again. let it run for awhile went to start it the next day it was dead again. jumped it drove it around for a while and it was fine except for the fact that i notice the radiator light on and the check engine light was on as well. so i let is run for a few mins the the car just died tried to start it again nothing. went by to start it put in a new battery and it turned over, its getting fuel from what i can tell but the weird thing is that i took the #1 spark plug wire off to check to see if it was getting spark and the car turned over and attempted to start dont kno what it could be please help any advice would be helpfull thanks

sounds like your alternator is toast... i'd deff take it out and get a new one or get it tested

This is all very common behavior with a dead alternator so that is a very likely option, but it is also all very common behavior for a bad battery, take it to advanced or O'reilly's autozone or fleet farm and they can check the battery for you, some will even test your alternator for you.

He said he put a new battery on the car and it still wouldn't start. Apparently it isn't an issue with the battery. But it definitely could be the alternator. Did your SRS dummy light come on?? When the alternator starts to go out the SRS light will usually always come on. There is also a fusible link under the hood in the fuse box for the alternator. Make sure it is still good. If all else fails you may need to make sure the starter motor solenoid is getting 12 volts. The started motor pinion teeth could be getting wore or the starter could just be going out.

okay well maybe i should have been more specific the car turns over but wont run was running before and now it doesnt. as for the fuses they seem good from what i can tell. and the srs light didnt come on. one thing i noticed while driving was that the check engine light was flashing a couple times cant take the car to autozone for it wont run at all please help

To get the codes on your N/T you can use the ignition key method. turn the key ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON. that has to be done within 5 seconds. the CEL will blink out the code to you then. it will blink out the first #, then the second #. for example, for say a code 11, it would blink once, then pause and blink once again.

Id also check the starter because if your starter is dragging it will show the effects of a weak electrical system because it drains the electrical system.

is the car a 5spd?
if so I would get some buddies to push the car and pop the clutch and see if it cranks.

correct me if Im wrong but I dont think that we have radiator lights our cars. The light you may be referring to is the washer fluid light.

Please describe "radiator" and where the light is on the dash, check engine and low fuel lights are the only orange lights I've ever seen on my dash so that leads me to ask a stupid question...does your car have fuel? I'm not implying anything by that just want to make sure we've got all the bases covered.

okay then tell what is the orange light with what looks like a radiator then.

Snap a picture of the light.

That orange light is probably your windshield washer fluid light.
Either unplug the windshield washer fluid reservoir or put some water in your windhshield washer fluid reservoir

Is the car running hot?
Check the fluid in your coolant bottle.

ill take a pic tomorrow when i get a chance as for the fuel question yes its getting fuel and no its not getting hot either. im stumped dont kno what it could be guess ill check the coil pack tomorrow to while im at it. read some where that the car will not start if the oil level is off could be wrong guess i have my work cut out for me thanks guys

Look guys, calm down about the orange light.:D The low washer fluid light looks nothing like a radiator. It looks like a windshield with a line splitting it in the middle. There are 2 arced and dashed lines running above it. If that is what you're seeing it's the windshield washer fluid dummy light. Just means you are out of washer fluid. If your coil pack were out it could keep the car from cranking, but more than likely it would just run really bad. Like i said before, you need to make sure all your underhood fuses are good first. Then you need to make sure the starter motor and starter solenoid are getting 12 volts from the battery. If they are and the car still won't turn over, one or the other has gone bad. It wouldn't be the alternator keeping it from cranking. Even if the alternator was not working at all, as long as you have a fully charged battery the car will crank and run until it has the battery drawn down dead. Your problem lies in either the starter/ solenoid, ignition switch, or the wiring between all of it.

You never said, does the starter click at all when you turn the key to the start position??
