prothane motor mounts

how does that work and i heard of using window weld but my rear mount is completely shot so that one needs a new rubber as far as the rest i have a spare drivers side and the others are fine well they look like it but are prothane motor mounts good

Go prothane, the window weld tends to fall out after 5 years, or the layers will at least seperate leaving them looking ghetto. But it does work (for a while) one thing i can say about the prothanes is BE PREPARED FOR A TON OF RATTLES!!!!!!!! My turn signal and washer levers on the steering column vibrate so much they're getting loose. My windows have developed HUGE rattles. My glove box constantly drops one of it's hinge pins.

BUT, on the GOOD side... wheel hop was almost completely eliminated and that was even on stock suspension. Once i put the LSD in , i haven't had ANY wheel hop what so ever ( although i do bog more on launchs and 1-2 shifts now :( )

If you are worried about excessive vibration you can press in the rear prothane mount and drill holes into it to allow for some movement, most of the vibration comes from using a Prothane mount on the transmission but you can drill that one out too.

I have all four Prothane mounts on my car and ended up drilling 4-5 evenly spaced 3/8" holes through the rear and transmission mount and found a good balance between roll control and vibration dampening. If your trans mount is not torn up then you can keep it and just have the rear and side stock mounts pressed out, the front mount does not need removal to use the Prothane inserts.

ik thanks im gonna try that and see how it goes

so this what im gonna do the rear im gonna put a prothane the tranny is gonna stay oem the frront oem with prothane insert and driver side prothane would this be good to do oh yeah im gonna put four holes in each like you did

I would put the front inserts in too, they don't really add any extra vibration, cheap and easy to install.

kk well ill put prothane on three mounts and the tranny ill keep it oem so what mounts do i have to drill the holes

where do you hink i should get them i found a full set on ebay new from energy suspensionfor 80 shipped but if there is some where else i can get em i will

I have the front/rear/driver's side prothane mounts. I left the transmission mount stock because I've been told that one will really make everything vibrate.

My stock motor mounts did have the window weld crap in it but it looked very bad and it started falling apart after 3 years.

In order to install the prothane mounts you have to push/cut the rubber out of the stock mounts and cut the sleeve where the stock rubber seats in. If you just cut the rubber out but don't pull out the sleeve the new insert will not fit.

Modern Automotive Performance has them in stock.

We have all 4 prothane, and I dont even notice vibration anymore. Not as bad as it sounds.
Mike

Seriously... I'm even running a built motor with the BSEK and it's not that bad.

Here's what I did for my 1g Auto mounts (cost: ~$40):

-Since the MT & AT pre-made Prothane mounts are different, I made my own polyurethane mounts for just the A/T specific mounts (front & rear mounts). I had enough DIY polyurethane mix to do all 4 mounts on 2 other 1g DSMs! -WELL worth it IMO.

ok drivers side mount..

i didnt press it out i just cut it out..
now there is a black sleeve around does that have to be pressed out?

cause i bought the prothane kit and there are 2 differnt sizes one for the left one for the right...

the smaller ones fit insde the black sleeve,... but it looks as if the black sleeve was pressed out the bigger ones would fit
