ok. so someone drained my oil while my car was at my house, oil plug is gone and not a drop of oil on the driveway, were its been sitting for 2 months. fixed the water pump and timing finally and ran the motor dry for about 30 sec before i figured something was realy wrong. i shut down the motor and the starter couldnt crank it over again, so i figure that the rings are pretty much shot, i broke it loose but the compression is as follows.
#1=(95)
#2=(90)
#3=(80)
#4=(140)

So it looks like im doing a rebuild.
is it possible to change the piston rings with the motor in the car? i did it on my single cam honda but i dont know i can with the talon. just want some advice before i endeavor on this project.

You can change the rings with the motor in the car.. Would i? No. If it was me i'd pull the motor, change crank and rod bearings, put new rings on, inspect the cylinders and hone. Then install a new water pump and timing belt. Maybe an oil pump depending on the milage. I'd also get rid of the Balance shafts.

water pump is brand new, has like 20 miles on it, the only reason the car was siiting for so long is because it needed a timing belt which i changed yesterday, which has 0 miles on it because now it needs a rebuild. ill just do it in the car, i dont have the time to pull it all out again. if i do it will take me twice as long. ill just try it in the car. but thanks for the advice.

Unless GOD blessed your motor, your bearing are all toast. If you don't tear it down and check the crank and rod bearings, cyl wall, and cams/head, you are wasting time and money. Your compression is low because there is no oil on the cyl walls, which are probably scuffed/scored to all hell.

it only ran for about 20 seconds, it runs just fine right now, i waited for it to cool down for a while so the pistons and rings would contract a bit and it started and ran. and it will start up and run perfectly right now, but... im gonna replace the pistons, rods, rings, bearing and prob get the block bored .020 over just in case there is damage to the cylinder walls which means i will be upgrading the pistons and rods, i mean, i may as well do it if its getting torn apart anyways.
