vancouver,
my friend gave me his 1990 plymouth laser... it was parked for 3 years and it has 168,000 on the engine.

i did drive it to my home without fix it... ( no time) i am little impressive about it...

i already bought many parts to replace

- spark plugs
- spark plug wires
- air filter
- oil fitler
- engine oil
- manual transmission oil
- pcv
- plan to buy o2 sensor but i dont think it needs a new o2 sensor.

anyway, i am curious what do you suggest to fix it fully... i mean the car is parked for 3 years... everything is old and i dont want to break something important like seal inside the engine ( it would be pain in the ass to fix)

last, i found oil inside the air filter... i wonder what happens... never heard that problem...

thanks

ps. i believe i post about my vehicle ( 1990 laser base)

yes i am trying but no hose for gas... >.>

i think about coolant too... (thats what i missed)

yes oil in air filter... pretty bad... probably 1/4 cup of oil... i dont know why... maybe you guys explain about this...

but i know usually there are a very little or nothing oil in airfilter (mostly sohc engine i believe) due to breathe from valve cover... but this amount of oil is usual... and maybe i need to install valve breather

bud92gsx, i am trying to work on it for A to B trip.... no interesting in mod or whatever because body is pretty bad... mold and fade paint.

Oil in the air filter is generally caused by a clogged PCV valve. When it gets clogged, rather then getting sucked into the manifold, the pressure in the crankcase is then expelled the only way it can: through the breather hose which is attached to the air intake hose.
There is also a gas tank drain bolt on the bottom left side of the car. You can drain all the gas out that way. The unfortunate part is now you gotta put gas in it. So you either don't drain all of it and drive to a gas station for a full tank, or drain it all and have some ready in a can.
Everything you've got looks good but I'd change the coolant as well. Goodluck.

ah alright i already change pcv valve so i dont worry about it anymore... eh?

there are drain bolt on gas tank? i dont know that... is it available on most or all model?

alright sound everything is good... i was just little worrying about its reliable... guess its myth on the net >.>u

rep+ everyone

edit: second though, i seems can't rep+ everyone :|

Okay for a car that has been sitting for that long you will want to change all fluids period. Check all belts and hoses for dry rot. Check the timing belt also. You will be well ahead of the game to go ahead and cheang the timing belt and balance belt. if you have no more the like a quarter tank of gas I would pour in some gas treatment and top off with the highest oct. gas you have there and call it a day for that. Also get under the car and look at the brake hoses and gas lines check theses very good for leaks and cracks. If you have access to a lift then you can raise the car and check everything.

As far as rep points you have to award them per person you can't click to give to everyone.

+1 to what Gs Dewd said. If you wanted you could also take the oil pan off and make sure it doesnt have any sludge etc... Cause you never know what could have ended up at the bottom of the pan after 3 years of sitting + being its 18 years old.
