Boost Gauge Problems, need help

I just got my Autometer Sport-Comp Vac/Boost Gauge(mechanical) today, tried to hook it up like some VFAQ instructions said(between FPR and TB) got nothing, any ideas? possible leak?

I think it was determined that the best place to hook it up is the solenoid on the driver's side of the engine bay, on the firewall.
There 3 of them (or 2 in some models) and the look exactly like boost control solenoid. You need the middle one (if there are 2, then you need the one in the middle of the braket). Tap into the vacuum hose running from underneath it.

If that's what yo have done, and you still get no reading, check your tubing for any collapsed hoses or big rips. Does your stock gauge show boost ?
 
make sure you get into the correct one. i tapped into the wrong one and it was all off. it is a solid black line below a line that has a blue stripe.
 
Factory gauge shows boost, I disconnected the hose and put my thumb over it at idle and didn't feel anything, but if I had a vacuum leak, wouldnt I run into fuel problems under boost?
