Just looking for some feedback...

95 Eagle Talon TSI
Manual AWD Transmission

MODS~
3 inch Turbo-back w/off-road pipe, Atmospherical O2 Dump, 14B Turbo, Frontmount intercooler, 1G BOV, Boost Control Restirctor Removed, K&N intake, AEM Uego Wideband, Autometer Phantom 2 Boost gauge, BPR7ES Plugs gapped to 30, SBR intake manifold spacer,

Things That where Replaced OEM~
Transmission Overhaul, New clutch, Oil Pressure sending unit, Oil filter housing, Advanced Autoparts Spark Plug Wires, Dipstick, Rear Axles, Rear Wheel Bearings with New Spindles, Collant hose off the Oil Filter Housing, Serp Belts, Timing Belt w/ wtr pump and BS belt too, and probably some other crap too...

Whats happening~
This is it my cars runs pretty good exept for sometimes at high RPM the bastard backfires. Sometimes it happends at high RPM in 2nd sometimes in 3rd and 4rth but never in 1rst.. My 1rst gear high RPM is flawless.. :( Exept sometimes it bogs on a launch... My wideband readings when the car backfires are at 11.2-12.8 at WOT just depends on if I downshift and hit it or just hit it at a light...I have no fuel mods and i aint doing squat else to this thing untill i figure this out... The cars drives fine and accelerates pretty good all exept for this occasional backfire... I have a history with DSM's and it isnt fuel cut... Im running 15 pounds of boost. And also sometimes when im at WOT and I let off the gas i get fricken 10.0's on the wideband but im thinking it's just burning off fuel but not totally sure. But when it backfires my wideband stays at 11.2-12.8 it doesnt go lean at all... My plugs are brand new as of 1 week ago and this thing is making me angry...

Other thoughts~
I have had people tell me a million things.. I have absouluty No Boost leaks what so ever.. My system is sealed shut and i've plained my intake manifold and replaced numerous gaskets and sealed the entire system as if it rolled of a Revised assembly line...

Opinions~
A few of the guys at Slowboyracing where basically speechless and didnt know what the hell was wrong...WTF I had one older Mitsubishi Tech tell my my 95 Eprom ECU is going bad?? but its not showing and symptoms of bad capcilitors!! WTF One guy said that it's becuz I dont have a Cat. Converter and i told him hes retarted...:tease: I have a stock fuel system guys... I have a 14B and im running 15 psi on a stock fuel system and still runs Rich & backfire because?? Well I did develop this thought that my Advanced Autoparts Wires are Crap and have to much resistance and the plugs may not be firing to there max potential causing me Bog down at launches and backfire at high rpm... But for some odd reason I have a feeling that if I do drop the money on a set of MagnaCores im gonna still be in the same boat...

What you guys think???

Things i would change in your setup definetly change the ignition wires out for either factory(recommended) or ngk's,next for 15psi on a 14b i dont think you need the bpr7es's (too cold) put some 6's back in there and see how that does for you.

BPR6ES gapped to .028". You have NO need for 7ES's yet.

And have you done an ACTUAL boost leak TEST? I don't care if you're "very sure" you don't have boost leaks; I want to know how long it took for your aftermarket boost gauge to reach 0 after pressurizing the intake tract to 25psi with an air compressor. If you simply say "I have everything tightened down and I'm sure I don't have boost leaks", I'm just going to assume that you DO. :)

I agree with the hotter plug and smaller gap. Have you looked at the plugs since you put them in?

I'm also with MrBoxx w.r.t. hearing the results of the BLT. No offense, but I hear it several times a day from folks who don't realize what "no boost leaks" means. Maybe you don't have any, but I've gotta ask.:)

ECU is simple enough to check if you can borrow another.

When I first got my car, it did the same thing. Its fixed now, but the problem, I imagine, was because the throttle position sensor wasn't adjusted properly. It was telling the injectors to squirt more fuel than they were supposed to. So if I started getting on it, it would backfire sometimes. It would also do it if I was in 2nd or 3rd gear at 30-40 mph and completely off the gas and the car slowly slowing down, would pop a flame here and there. Check and adjust your throttle position sensor, get some nice ngk plugs and wires in there, make sure your gap is correct, and check for boost leaks. What are you tuning with? maybe try turning your boost up a little:sneaky:

Also check your timing. maybe its retarded. literally.
