boost leak???

ok I cant believe I never thought of asking this before... but I have a 20 g turbo on my 90 dsm and i just realized i was only getting about 18 psi max. does this mean i got a boost leak??? it should be way higher. ive seen 16gs get higher psi than me. im confused guys grrr.

Do a boost leak test and check for pre turbo exhaust leaks. Im 100 % sure that turbo is capable of more than 18psi! Im sure you have the fuel mods to support that, right? your profile just says 20g and intercooler?

Yeah injection a fuel pump if you havent changed them out is one important thing u want to check and look at doing. at least a 680cc injector should do the trick.

do a full boost leak test!!! check your bov are you running stock? those can leak and stock ones will not hold over say16-18psi without modification. Also check to make sure your mbc is working good.

Just do a search, there are plenty of threads on this. For my boost leak tester, I got the parts to make it from Napa auto and Home Depot. It ended up costing me less than $10 when said and done.

If you have a boost leak, you would know cause your car would be running like shit. Just cause a 20G is maxed at 18 psi doesn't mean you have a leak. You have a boost controller right? Fiddle with that. Or don't if you do not have supporting mods for a 20G. Anything over 17-ish psi and you're looking at either fuel cut, or a rod through the block if you disabled fuel cut. I'm going to assume from your lack of mods list you just slapped a 20G on there and nothing else.

U should have 2.5 inch for intake and 3 or i seen more from the bottom of your O2 piping out so u want lag as much.

I had a boost controller but sold it to a rally buddy. i dont have a logger. i think i have a upgraded fuel pump cause the car came with the stock one sitting in the trunk so the new 1 im sure is upgraded. and yeah i hope that answers your questions

Well, how do you expect to get higher than 18psi without a boost controller? And you shouldn't be going any higher than stock without a logger. What do you have the vacuum line going to your wastegate hooked up to?

You should take your fuel pump out and see what exactly you have.

So wait...you don't have the stock BCS? And you don't have a boost controller...so what exactly do you have? What are you controlling your boost with? You should just tear down the whole car and inspect what parts you have and not have. You can't go anywhere without knowing your car.

i GOING TO TELL U THIS............IF YOUR CAR WAS BUILT BEFORE U HAD IT I WOULD FIND OUT FROM HIM WHAT IT HAD IN IT....U CAN TAKE IT OFF THE ROAD FOR A WEEK AND TEAR DOWN THE MOTOR OR SOMETHING AND FIND WHAT U HAVE. ITS GOOD TO HAVE A HAYNES AROUND TOO. U NEED TO LOOK AT SOME OF THESE THINGS THAT U HAVE IF U UPGRADED A TURBO AND IT DONT WORK RIGHT. READ WHAT LUDCRIS WROTE. O I didnt put the turbo on it. It came with that to. I have not done anything to the car. and I would contact him but I lost his number and forgot email. so I have no way of contacting him.
but I know i have a 255 fuel pump now. I dont have the standard boost controller. so idk if thats really bad? but im still trying to figure out everything i have. im reading and trying to learn as much as possible but it takes a while to completly learn a car. i went from knowing nothing about this car to feeling like i could do anything in about maybe a month or so. but i still got alot to learn I know that.
