I just put a new motor in the car and I have some leaks. I believe it is leaking around the pan, the oil filter housing, and the valve cover. I get a lot of smoke from the engine bay w/ moderate throttle and I can see where it has been leaking on the downpipe. Also I get smoke coming out of the vents driving down the road. Is this a different problem or just smoke migrating from the engine bay? I used all new gaskets so why all the leaks? Also I pulled the valve cover and used a little black gasket sealer on the head surface and it still leaks. Any ideas on the leaks and is the vent smoke just migrating?

I had the same problem. Turned out it was a cracked valve cover - an overtightend bolt with a hairline crack next to it. Oil would collect in the spark plug area. When I would slam on the brakes, the oil would poor out of the tiny drain hole on the front of the valve cover straight onto the exhaust manifold. The rest would just drizzle down the engine making it look like the pan and filter was leaking.

It sounds like the smoke is from oil leaking onto your exhaust and being burned. Id check the torque on all your bolts. I had a vent smoke issue on my integra that was from engine bay smoke, so that definately could be where it is coming from.
