Started the car up for the first time in 2 months yesterday and it sounded like a pro stock car in my garage. The Tial 44mm external gate with external dump is open at idle. I had the entire turbo/manifold/wastegate setup off the car for a couple months while I was doing some engine work and swapping trannys. The MBC is hooked up properly and I did not disconnect the wastegate from the manifold at all so I'm really curious why this is happening...I'm thinking corrosion or something internal so I'm going to take her apart now but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem? Also, if there is build up does anyone have any suggestions on solvent other then some steel wool and brake cleaner? Thanks

I tried viewing the video at that link but it comes up blank. I have the latest version of quicktime so I'm not sure whats up with it but thanks for the effort...I'll try to bring up the video on the gf's computer when she gets home.

RESOLVED

Just putting out some information here in case someone else runs into this problem one day.

I changed over my fittings on the wastegate to accept AN- lines so I can run all SS boost lines. A company (I forget the name) makes what are suppose to be direct replacement banjo style fittings for Tial products. I assumed they were "direct replacement" as I was told and simply screwed them in without checking thread length. Turns out the new fittings threaded portion is a good bit (1/4 inch or more) longer then the Tial supplied fittings. Thus the fitting had actually pierced the diaphragm (spelling) and scratched the spring seat as well as cracked the valve open. Now I need to rebuild the wastegate. Just a heads up to anyone else looking to do the same thing...your going to need to shorten the bolts.

For Search Purposes:

Tial, wastegate, boost lines, AN fitting, exhaust leak
