Fan Power

What steps would I take in determining why my fans don't turn on and I overheat within 3 blocks? I have a new radiotr, thermostat, and Fans which when hot and cold is applied turn on. There are a few spots in the relay/fuse box are open. The car is a 98 Eclipse N/T

See what relays should be there, check fan relays and fuses...If they all check out, start tracing wires. electrical is a bi***!

I've seen other N/T members post pics of their fuse boxes and have also had slots open, should every slot be full? Anyone know how to test relays?

If the relays are all identical like in the 2g turbo, the easyest way to test them is to swap with another like the headlamp relay to see if it works there.

Definitely check the fuses. This happened to my 3kgt, but I never overheated. Also, check and see if your AC fan kicks on when you turn that on, if you have it. That'll also help you trace it down.

Dude my car will do the same thing from time to time. Its like it only cuts the fans on when it wants to. Some times they will cut on and sometimes they wont. I checked all the electrical shit and everything was fine. It doesn't do it anymore so I dont know what fixed it. But I would always just turn the ac on when it started to over heat. This will force one of the fans to cut on if not both.
