no start eeeak

anyway i am a owner of a first gen dsm 2.0 dohc N/A......anyway now to my problem i went to start my car the other morning. well the car ran for about 2 sec and died...tryed again ran for a split second then died.....check the timing belt and its not broke just missing a couple of teeth...my question is what are the odds that i bent a valve or can i put a new belt on and get it in perfect time so it will run????????

most likly bent them....line the crank mar up and see how many teeth the cams are

Well 16 valve, so i'd say the odds are 1 in 16

Sorry for that

but the only way to know is to replace the belt and do a compression test.

Or take the cams out and do a leak down

100%. Except you bent two, not just one. More likely four.

People have gotten lucky and for whatever reason their valves haven't bent, myself included.

There are a few ways to check to see if the valves are bent and I think they're all listed above.
