Ok, i cant take this anymore, iv tried to tighten all my pullys and what not but i just cant figure anything out... Ill start the car sometimes it will just start and no squeak, but other times ill start it up and oh my god it is such a loud SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEAK i beleive its my power stearing because if i turn my wheel all the way one way it will start going off.. Just need some help on what to do about this. All brand new belts, and i have a unorthodox pully for the pully on the very bottem, i dont remember the name of what pully that is im sorry ... LOL

Thanks

Check and see if any of the pulleys move or when the car is running see if the wobble around, see if there is oil on the belts also

O... your not leading up to something very nice... crankwalk. :(

But that is a good possibility. You can check it when the motors off by taking a fairly good sized screw driver and pushing on the crank pulley between the motor and the pulley. It should not move at all, if it does... well you know what that means.

It could just be your underpulley though. I'd check both though.

The next thing to check is your harmonic dampener.

This pulley is bolted to the crankshaft sprocket and is composed of two pieces of metal separated by a layer of rubber. This rubber deteriorates over time and causes these two halves to separate.

To check this part, remove it and inspect it's condition.
If it is separated or separating, then purchase a new factory replacement. (do not get an aftermarket dampener; a quick search can tell you why.)

If you remove your driver's side tire and look straight through, the pulley is right there on the block of the engine.

The dampener is secured to the crankshaft via 4 bolts.

I could be way off base here but my car started squeaking one day out of the blue and well I had the same symptoms you speak of. It did this for awhile and gradually got worse. Come to find out my water pump was leaking coolant from the weep hole on to my belts making them squeal. Could be the culprit.

Have you tried tightening your belts or using a straight edge and ruler to test for correct tension?

Work on the small things first. Also, check to see that it is actually the belt squealing and not the power steering pump itself. If it is not fully lubricated (fluid levels), it can have a lot of problems.

Welfle 18 has a good suggestion - check for leaks anywhere, including the return line for the coolant.

Also, check to see if there is anything physically associated with turning the wheel. Could it be that the splash shield is rubbing/being pushed against the pulleys?

It isn't that, he stated that he has an aftermarket underpulley one. They don't have a dampener on UO pulleys.

Good catch. I didn't see where he mentioned that he had an aftermarket pulley. Either way, my statement still stands that it should be replaced with a factory unit.

Be sure that the belts aren't too tight, as it can cause damage to the accessories. (my buddy killed his new waterpump this way.)

Are the belts in good condition?

all new belts, the belts are pretty tight, i sprayed belt conditioner on the belts and pullys, that made the noise go away for awhile... Still trying to figure it out LOL

if or when i do i will be sure to tell everyone

This is now fixed!! I needed a 1" smaller belt, no more sqqqqueeeek!!!
Just loud exhaust now:D:hellyeah:
