Ok, like the title says, my car has a problem of dieing at the weirdest times. When I sit in park after a moment or so it dies. It likes to die when I'm slowing down for a turn or waiting for a light to change. Very rarely it likes to not shift while I'm driving (and it's an automatic). It just lurches like it's trying to shift, and it won't stop unless i let off the gas, it just keeps lurching really violently. WTF It runs fine once i get up to speed, around 30 mph or more. I don't want to take it to a mechanic just yet, hoping I can fix it myself. Much cheaper and satisfaction of knowing I did it. :D Anything would help. Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem with my '90 a/t GS. From what I've read on here and a couple other sites, its possible that your alternator is going bad. My car is outta commission right now (blown tranny), but when it was still running I would have stalling problems when I shifted from reverse to drive, and sometimes while it was just sitting in park after being warmed up. Evidently our a/t's suck more power from the alternator than our m/t brothers. Try checking your alternator belt first, make sure its on there tight. If thats not the case, you can take your alternator to an auto parts shop and they should be able to check it for you. Hope this helps out.
