I have the opportunity to get a complete used head for fairly cheap in my rebuild project. The head looks ok, the valves look, well, used. Is there anyway to check to see if they will seat correctly and hold compression with the head off of a car?

Any machine shop of yahoos can pressure test the head off the car. But find a trusted one and have the head resurfaced, it's costed me $50 in the past for the pressure test and the resurfacing.
