Ok, here is my problem. I have a 98 eclipse gst with 18g turbo at 20psi, full exhaust, front mount ic, hard pipes, hks ssqv, magnecore 8.5mm wires ngkr bpr8es plugs, 550cc injectors, aeromotive fpr, walboro 255lph fuel pump. Around 6500 rpms it breaks up pretty bad. I have just got my car tuned at turbotrix with my afc neo and they were telling me that i had some type of ignition problem. When i got it tuned i had nology hotwires on my car and they took them off and put on the magnecore ones, and they put in new spark plugs (bpr8es). They said that this helped a little but it still breaks up. Once and a while it wont break up untill a little over 6500 rpms. Has anyone had this problem before? Or do you have any other ideas of what it could be? Before this setup i had a forced performance Big t28 turbo with stock injectors, full exhaust, front mount, hardpipes, ngkr bpr7es plugs, and just the fuel pump, stock fpr, at 17 psi and it would pull very smooth through 7000 rpms. Please Help!

This is for a 1g but 2g is similiar: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=33471&d=1088544507. [Note: for 2g specs are 0.70-0.86 ohms primary; 11.3k-15.3k secondary.]
If it fails test it's bad. If it passes this it may still be weak/bad however. Only way to be sure is to 1) have it tested at a shop that tests coils; or 2) swap with good one; or 3) remove plugs and reconnect with casings clamped to engine, then crank and watch spark to see how strong a spark you have (even this isn't a sure test but if the spark is weak you know it's bad). Coils get weak with age. Often heating them with a hairdryer/heatgun while testing will help bring out a weak/bad coil.

Of course if you don't get any spark it may be either the coil or something else like power transistor, ECU, CAS, CPS. To test the coil by itself for spark see: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/is-this-a-ground-no-spark-issues.415723/#post-152745735. This link is for a 2g. For a 1g use the yellow-black for plugs 2 & 3 and yellow-green for plugs 1 & 4.

What are your plugs gapped at? As it could be a simple as them being gapped to large & the spark blowing out at higher boost. Have you checked to make sure there is no moisture or oil in the spark plug wells?

On a side note, you may want to swap those 8ES plugs with 7ES plugs if your only running 20 psi.

Thanks man, i just replaced my fuel filter and it helped a lot. It pulls really smooth to 7k now.

My temp sensor took a nose dive causing my hard start problems.

Thought it was the coil, in which the primary windings were way off the scale on the VOM-like 7 to 9 ohms, yet the secondaries were within necessary readings , thus replaced the coil.

But, the problem flared up again when I was having CEL code .. a 21 = temp sensor acting up.

Replaced that sensor and all is now good in the world.
